Description

Body of Work: An event about art that uses technology to turn your body into its material.

Haptics, sensors, and other new technologies are enabling art where your body becomes the material for the work. When touch becomes the site of the artwork, it can't be photographed or recorded. It exists only in your body.

Contemporary art is primarily focused on vision and sound, leaving out the somatic. Touch is complex to work with. There is little terminology, few shared references, and no defined frameworks. How do we exhibit it? How do we fund it? What responsibility do we have as artists when we work with the bodies of our audience?

This event is part workshop, part exhibition, part laboratory, bringing together artists in Sweden who are defining this field to discuss its challenges and contradictions. And most importantly, to get a feel for what it is.

About

Karo HAll

Karo Hall is an interdisciplinary artist and interaction designer working at the intersection of embodiment and technology. With roots in dance, performance, and art history, she explores how physical presence translates across digital space. How can technology make visible what the body already knows? Her work moves through the anatomical and the energetic, treating the body as a liminal site where multiple dimensions of experience coexist.

Sphere of Touch is part of her ongoing series Metaphysical Archaeology, which investigates intimacy and the unseen forces that flow between bodies as they traverse both physical and virtual dimensions. is a new work, still in development, shown for the first time at HAS
