ONLY FOR THE WICKED

(2025)

Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, 12-15 June.

Thur 16-21, Friday Private Viewings only, Sat - Sun 10-18

Description

Only for the Wicked is a meticulously composed experience by Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg — a cycle of seven animated films that together shape a dreamlike realm where identities blur, roles dissolve, and nothing is as it first seems. The victim becomes the perpetrator, the perpetrator a child — all depending on which narrative unfolds in the moment.

Each film follows its own dark logic, where power, desire, and vulnerability merge and shift in a continuous state of transformation.

The familiar slips into the unfamiliar. The disturbing carries a trace of beauty.

Each animation is accompanied by a bespoke composition for pipe organ — distinct yet intrinsically part of a larger, breathing system. The music drifts and mutates from film to film like a sentient presence: alert, evolving, alive. At HAS – Helix Art Space, this interplay of image and sound creates a curated encounter — where the soft, luminous architecture contrasts with the darker emotional undercurrents.

Together, the films form a fractured drama where nothing stays fixed, and where the notion of evil cannot be defined without also turning inward.
